AfterHVAC Company in Windcrest, TX
Windcrest homeowners need an HVAC company that understands this city’s unique position: a fully incorporated municipality with its own permit office, completely surrounded by San Antonio. Most Coldharbour Heating & Air calls here involve AC repair, furnace repair, or AC installation in mid-century ranch homes with aging attic ductwork fighting 140°F summer temperatures. We’re familiar with Windcrest’s Eisenhauer Road permit process and its inspection schedule, which differs sharply from San Antonio’s system. Call (817) 402-2972 for a free estimate.
Why Windcrest Homes Are Different
Windcrest developed primarily from the 1950s through the 1970s as a planned residential community, and that history shows in nearly every house we enter. The housing stock is remarkably uniform: single-story ranch-style homes of consistent vintage, many with original or once-replaced ductwork routed through unconditioned attics. In South-Central Texas summers, those attic spaces routinely exceed 140°F, baking duct insulation and degrading seals until cooled air never reaches the living space.
The February 2021 hard freeze, Winter Storm Uri, exposed another vulnerability. These mid-century homes were never engineered for sustained sub-freezing temperatures, and many heating systems failed when homeowners needed them most. We still find furnaces in Windcrest that struggle with the load those rare but brutal cold snaps demand.
Perhaps most importantly, Windcrest operates its own City Hall and permit office on Eisenhauer Road. HVAC contractors must pull mechanical permits through Windcrest’s system, not San Antonio’s, and pass inspection by Windcrest’s own inspectors. San Antonio-based companies often stumble here, causing delays that leave homeowners without cooling for extra days in peak summer.
Our Main Windcrest Services
Windcrest homeowners call us most often for these three services, each with its own dedicated page and local pricing.
AC Repair in Windcrest
AC repair in Windcrest means working on systems stressed by months of 90-100°F heat, often with compromised attic ductwork stealing efficiency before the cooled air ever arrives. We see refrigerant leaks from corroded coils, failed capacitors from constant cycling, and blower motors straining against collapsed flex duct. Our technicians carry parts for Goodman, Rheem, and other major brands, and we issue a written 365-Day Done Right Promise before leaving every repair. AC Repair in Windcrest
Furnace Repair in Windcrest
Furnace repair here involves mid-century heating systems, many original to the home or replaced once in the 1990s or 2000s. Igniter failures, limit switch trips from restricted airflow, and heat exchanger cracks are common findings. After Uri, many Windcrest homeowners also want us to verify their system’s capacity against realistic cold-weather loads. We provide a written price before any work begins and guarantee every repair for a full year. Furnace Repair in Windcrest
AC Installation in Windcrest
AC installation in Windcrest requires navigating the city’s own permit process and sizing equipment for homes with significant duct losses through hot attics. We perform load calculations, evaluate whether duct sealing or replacement should accompany the new system, and handle Windcrest permitting directly. Installations are scheduled, not same-day, with a fixed written price and financing paperwork handled upfront. AC Installation in Windcrest

FAQs About HVAC Company in Windcrest
Windcrest requires its own mechanical permit through City Hall on Eisenhauer Road. San Antonio permits are not valid here, and contractors unfamiliar with this separate process can cause costly delays. We handle Windcrest permitting directly on installation jobs.
Most Windcrest repair calls are scheduled same-day or next-day, with live phone coverage 24 hours a day. Extreme summer demand can extend this slightly, but we prioritize no-cooling calls during heat advisories. Call (817) 402-2972 for current availability.
Windcrest’s uniform ranch homes from the 1950s-1970s often have original ductwork in unconditioned attics where 140°F temperatures degrade seals and insulation. Even a properly sized AC cannot overcome duct losses of 20-30% or more. We evaluate duct condition during every service call and can recommend sealing or replacement options.

What Windcrest Customers Say
"AC died overnight with a newborn in the house. They bumped us up the list and had it running by noon. I about hugged the guy. Fair price even on a rush call."
- Celeste Ngo"The repair was done well and quickly. Scheduling over the phone was a little clunky and I got transferred twice, but the tech himself was great and on time."
- Brett Haygood"Furnace was short cycling all winter. They diagnosed a bad sensor instead of condemning the whole unit like I feared. Cheap fix, honest call."
