Daikin AC Installation in Los Angeles: What to Know First

Daikin AC installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130-$8,850, depending on the system size, efficiency tier, and whether ductwork needs modification. As an independent Daikin service provider, we install and replace Daikin central air systems, heat pumps, and mini splits, with most jobs completed in one to two days once equipment is on hand. You get a written price before any work starts, not a ballpark that shifts when the crew arrives.

This page is for Los Angeles homeowners who already own a Daikin system that needs replacement, or who have decided on Daikin for a new install and want a contractor who actually knows the equipment. Call (817) 402-2972 for a free estimate. Victor Mancini and our install team have worked on Daikin systems across Los Angeles since 2003.

How Daikin Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Every manufacturer has its patterns. Here are the Daikin-specific issues we see most often in Los Angeles homes before an installation becomes necessary:

  • Inverter board failures on Daikin FIT and VRV systems. The inverter board controls compressor speed, and when it fails, the outdoor unit either won’t start or runs at full blast without modulating. On aging Daikin FIT systems, we see this after 8-12 years of Los Angeles heat cycles. If the system is under warranty, we facilitate the parts claim and install the replacement board. If it’s out of warranty, the board cost often pushes homeowners toward full replacement.
  • Condensate drain clogs on Daikin mini splits and ducted air handlers. Los Angeles air carries dust, and Daikin drain pans have a shallow slope that traps debris. A clogged drain trips the float switch and shuts the system down. During installation of a new Daikin unit, we re-pitch the drain line and add a cleanout port so you’re not dealing with this in year two.
  • Compressor short-cycling on older Daikin DX series. The DX line was common in Los Angeles track homes built in the 2000s. When the run capacitor weakens, the compressor starts and stops rapidly, which overheats the windings. By the time we’re called, the compressor is often damaged beyond economical repair. We’ll never recommend a new compressor on a 12-year-old DX unit unless the numbers genuinely favor it.
  • Refrigerant leaks at the flare fittings on Daikin mini split line sets. Flare connections that weren’t torqued to spec during the original install will leak slowly over years. We see this on Daikin Aurora and 17 Series mini splits across the Valley and East LA. A proper re-flare with a torque wrench and a nitrogen pressure test solves it. When we install new Daikin mini splits, every flare is torqued and every line set is pressure-tested before we charge the system.
  • Thermistor failures on Daikin multi-zone systems. The thermistor reads refrigerant temperature and feeds data to the control board. When it drifts out of spec, the system misreads temperatures and either over-cools or refuses to run. It’s a cheap part but a frustrating diagnosis if you haven’t seen it before. We stock common Daikin thermistors on our trucks.

Our Daikin AC Installation Process

Here’s what a Daikin installation with Coldharbour Heating & Air looks like, start to finish:

  1. 1
Site walk and load calculation. We measure the home, check duct condition, and run a Manual J load calculation so the new Daikin system is sized correctly, not just matched to the old unit’s tonnage.
  2. 2
Written proposal. You get a fixed price for the equipment, labor, permits, and any duct or electrical work, before you commit to anything. No number changes at the door.
  3. 3
Equipment order and scheduling. We confirm the exact Daikin model and efficiency tier, order it, and give you a firm installation date and arrival window.
  4. 4
Installation day. Our background-checked, uniformed technicians remove the old equipment, set the new Daikin unit, connect the line set, and handle all electrical and condensate work to code.
  5. 5
Evacuation, charge, and commissioning. We pull a deep vacuum, charge the system to Daikin’s spec, and run a full startup sequence including airflow and temperature drop verification.
  6. 6
Cleanup and written guarantee. We leave the job site cleaner than we found it, walk you through the new thermostat and system operation, and hand you the written paperwork including your 365-Day Done Right Promise.

What Daikin AC Installation Costs in Los Angeles

Here’s what we quote for common Daikin installations in Los Angeles:

  • Daikin 14 SEER2 central AC, 3-ton: $4,130-$5,200 installed
  • Daikin 17 SEER2 high-efficiency central AC, 3-4 ton: $5,400-$6,800 installed
  • Daikin FIT inverter heat pump, 3-4 ton: $6,200-$8,850 installed
  • Daikin mini split, single-zone wall mount (12k-18k BTU): $4,300-$5,800 installed
  • Daikin mini split, multi-zone (two to three indoor heads): $6,500-$8,850 installed

Price moves on tonnage, SEER2 rating, whether you’re going heat pump or straight AC, and how much duct or electrical work the job needs. Los Angeles permit fees and HOA requirements can add a few hundred dollars. We include permits in every quote so there are no surprises. Call (817) 402-2972 for an exact number on your home.

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Coldharbour Heating & Air for Daikin Work

We’ve been working on Daikin equipment in Los Angeles since 2003, and we follow The Kingswell Way on every job: say the price before the work, show up in the window given, leave the place cleaner than found, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every install and repair for a full year. If something isn’t right, we’re back at no charge.

Our technicians are trained on Daikin alongside Carrier, Trane, and Lennox, so whatever system is in your home, the person who shows up can handle it. A live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Victor Mancini started this company because he got tired of watching Los Angeles homeowners get shuffled through call centers and handed prices that changed at the door. That doesn’t happen here.
